And there should be no wheat gluten, none, but still keep an eye on recalls because of new items added, and cross-contamination cases. If the food that you are feeding your dog is recalled, don't follow the slow to switch rule for changing foods, just stop, save the bag, and call your vet. I would not feed Iams, not quality enough and it contains wheat gluten(and all pet quality wheat gluten comes from the same source in China.) I would suggest that you look at Nutro Natural Choice Chicken Meal, Rice, and Oatmeal Formula, bagged kibble. You can start with the puppy size, then around 9 months of age(and you should spay your dog around 7 months) switch to the same formula but but for adult. This food is great, safe(so far, but it has no wheat gluten), and actually helps a dog's tummy. I buy mine at Petco. Another good one is Paul Newman's Newman's Own Dog Food, very natural, all organic. You can find this in pet stores and even in some Wal-Marts. Good luck, and keep posting. We love answering questions! (And remember, read labels of treats as well, they're mostly junk, so be picky about them.) |
