Not to say a dog can't be healthy eating commercial dog food. They definitely can. There's just a lot more health benefits to feeding dogs a natural diet.
This is especially true for dogs with health issues and skin conditions.
Here's a good site that explains a lot more about the benefits of feeding dogs natural food: Raw dog food diet |
its partly that its healthier but also you have to look at these foods and how they have changed over the years. back then you didnt have a bazillion different foods to choose from, the top brands were Alpo and the like. I wouldnt feed my dog alpo, but back then, it was also a better food. many things have changed over the years. theres more research done into how they can make their foods more cost effective for themselves, but still pass the standards (or lack there of). also dogs lifestyles have changed drastically. dogs before were not just a family pet who layed around the house, got walked a few times, etc. they worked. they were hunting, hearding, etc. this helped many of those dogs to live the lives they did.
i think that its great that people are doing more research into canine nutrition, but i dont understand why people get offended when someone doesnt agree with their brand of food they chose. i have met many people who i offended because i told them that they could find a better food for the same price. instead of listening to me, and getting some education, they play ignorant and get huffy. *shrug* no skin off my nose, i know whats going into my dogs. i know what the label on the bag means. i have done my research and i started my own business making low allergen organic dog treats.
that being said i also saw a post that said that there are no healthy kibbles for dogs. i beg to differ. i have seen many quality kibbles that have worked great for dogs. i love the thought of feeding raw... but i tried it, it didnt work well for my dogs. so if youre saying there are no good kibbles and my dog should eat raw, even though they dramatically lost weight, their coats when to heck, they lost a lot of energy, and were lethargic, ok... but im not about to agree with you.
i have fed Eagle Pack Holistic, RAW, Chicken Soup, and am currently feeding Taste Of The Wild- High Prairie. I LOVE taste of the wild. i think excluding the grains from my girls diets made a world of difference for them, they never looked or felt so good.
