 immune problem?

chuckie (9 yr old terrier/maltese/poodle mix) and i are new to the forum. actually new to the "forum world" but thankful to find one. about two weeks ago i had to take chuckie to the vet because he had all these "bruise looking" blotches under his skin. the vet wasn't sure what it was but did some bloodwork and put him on prednisone. his white platelet count was low, thus causing the bruising. he was on the prednisone for 5 days and the bruising disappeared. he was peeing all over the place! side effect. btw...about 6 months ago the vet put him on clomipramine 25 mg twice a day for OCD (he has a history of excessive nibbling, scratching, licking the air, etc which has gotten worse with age). wasn't sure if this is what caused this reaction? i have stopped giving him the clomipramine as the vet told me. the vet didn't think it was the medication. i was wondering if anyone else has ever had this problem with their dog? i will be taking chuckie back to the vet this week for a follow-up visit. i'd appreciate any feedback...thanks! |
