Hi, i have 4 year old boy beagle. Anyway, his eye swells up. His left eye(the bottom part, not eyeball) swells up and goes down frequently. Well, i thought he gets it when he got stressed, but it doesn't seem like it anymore.

I've been to family vet several times, but he doesn't seem to figure out what's wrong and keeps giving him antiphlogistics(big amount of it so i quit giving him). So when his eye swollen up real bad once, i visited some other vets and they don't know what's wrong either. Its been like a year since it got really big, then its doing it again.

The worse thing is that his eye seems to hurt now, which didn't happen before. He hates me touching it, even though he's never done that before. I attatched a pictue. it doesn't look serious in the picture, but it looks much bigger in real.

I'm thinking about vet specialized in eyes, but i just wanted to know what would be possible infection, or illness my dog might have before i drive like 100 miles to go there. I've searched through all webs and one question said that her dog has a cancer in his eye. can that be possible?

Please help me. I always feel bad to see him suffering. I'd really appreciate your reply.

I'm not a veterinarian. But I would definitely call the ophthalmologist and speak with them. If it were me, I'd make the earliest possible appointment and drive the 100 miles.

Also, all veterinarians are not created equal. Agressively research. Find out who is the best and most proactive in your area. Too many times have I had a sick dog that I've taken in for treatment, only to find out later that it was something else and it was too late to treat. I learned my lesson. And now I take a very active role and do my research so that I know Shadow and Katarina are getting the best care possible.
