Default Sore on my Boxers Head

I have a four year old Boxer and I noticed the other day a sore on his head that had been crusted over. It will not go away! When he scratches, it bleed very little and then crust over again. Is there any over the counter Meds I an use to get it to heal or perhaps something at a Pet Store.

Thank you

do you have any idea what has caused this? possibly a tick? does he have any hair loss anywhere?

he will probably need an E collar to stop him from scratching it. there are lots of things you can use OTC that will most likely clear it up with the collar but I would suggest you get your vet to look at it to diagnose it properly.

Default Not Ticks

We do not have a Ticks where we live, he is not missing any hair anywhere on his body, only a sore on his head about 1/2 the size of a dime, alost like he had a pimple.

if there is infection there from the scratching he should have antibiotics. often when the wound gets shaved the it is much larger than it appeared

peroxide should only be used the first time. betadine of course is good, triple antibiotic cream. anything liquid that you use of course you have to be extremely careful it doesn't get in his eyes.

trouble is if it heals over but the infection is still underneath you can have a real serious problem

Default maybe this will help

Not sure about this one but I have a small dog who is old and her skin gets very dry at times, she will itch then get a spot and itch it until it bleeds and so on. I tried everything and the thing that works best for me is this. I don't use too much peroxide since it works like epitat for us and my dog is small so a little will make her puke. I found in the baby isle a baby rash cream that is safe for babies. It moistens the itchy scab, covers it well, prevents itching, doesn't rub off easy and is bright white, and helps the spot heal quickly. safe to eat, just in case
