puppy problem
I have a 7 week old Boston terrier. She has been shaking her head and crying. My vet is not open until Monday so Im a little panicy. Her eyes also swell every so often today. I havent done anything different and Im feeding her the same. Ive heard of allergies in dogs, But how young could they start? And what can I do to comfort her til I can get her to the vet? Thanks for your help

is there a smell or do you see any gunk in her ears? that is usually the cause of that behavior.
yes, what you describe could be allergies. could be to something on your carpet, lawn or what you are feeding her.
have you called the breeder?
the fact that you have her at 7 weeks unfortunately indicates an irresponsible breeder. many state laws do not allow puppy sales until at least 8 weeks. reputable breeders keep them until 12 weeks, that way they've had their second set of shots & have some protection.
if she seems to be having the least problem breathing, I'd find an ER vet.

wow I didnt know that. I got her when she was six weeks old. It has been so hard getting her to eat and drink water. Still the only problem im having is this one. No oder, nothing in the ears that I can see. I did see that someone else had a similar problem and was feeding their puppy purina and said after they took it off the puppy quit. Thats what I was told to feed her so I have. Along with the soft food. Im just going to take her off the hard purina this weekend and keep her on the soft food. Im taking her to the vet Monday. Thanks for your help

at 6 weeks I would have started her on puppy gruel but sounds like she is doing ok now. she probably didn't know how to eat. if she is eating it, she is better off with kibble than canned but honestly Purina is garbage.
go to the "natura" site & check the comparison tab on the right side. google holistic food.
if there is no ear infection, then unfortunately you may have a nurological problem going on there. make sure your vet is aware of all the symptoms.
good luck & let us know how you make out

I would try calling the breeder, but as was mentioned I don't know what if anything she would do. & weeks sounded bad enough, but 6 weeks is horrible, not my kind of breeder. It does sound like an ear infection, did you notice if the pup tries to scratch at the ear? Hoping that it turns out to be just an ear infection.

Well she is now playing like nothings wrong. It makes me think its the food. I dont take her outside yet and I have no carpet, just hardwood flooring. I guess ive done pretty good being a substitute mom for her then , if im not even suppose to have her yet. I should have done more research first on breeders. Oh well Now Im flying by the seat of my pants so to speak. Having you all here is putting my mind at ease. Thanks so much for posting back. *Spell*

another thing many don't know is do not take her anywhere or allow visitors until after ALL her vaccines have been completed which would be 16 weeks
( or should be )
