Hi All,

My parents have a dog with diabetes. He's a 9 year old Sheba inu. He's currently on this diet made by some Vet clinic called 'medi cal fiber formula k9'. It's great and he's able to keep it down, but there's pieces of rice in there that my parents need to take 2-3 hours PER DAY to clean out.

My parents are 70, and they've been doing this for over a year now. When I ask them why they don't try something else, they tell me that the dog throws up everything else. This "medi cal fiber formula k9" would be perfect if it didn't have the rice.

So I'm asking - what's the recommended foods for diabetic dogs? I know every dog is different, but I'd like to try different brands.

I'm not a vet or anything, but am pretty well versed in nutrition. It's the most balanced dry dog food out there, and all canned foods are full of veggies. My dog's been eating it his entire life...he was diagnosed with diabetes a few years ago and he's still doing great.
