Default Vet possibly made a fatal mistake?

My 2 year old daschaund had a litter of six puppies on sunday morning. She had been having diarreah for the past day so I called the vet and made an appointment. Upon arriving at the vet he took her temp and looked over the puppies, he then gave her a shot without consulting me or informing me at all about what it was. He weighed her and gave me a bottle of pills (again without giving me any information).

Upon arriving home I did a little research on the pills and they turned out to be a medicine called "baytril" a drug used to treat bacterial infections in house pets and livestock. However, every site i went to said that it was not to be given to growing, pregnant, or lactating dogs. Seeing as my dog just had a litter of puppies she falls under that catagory. I have no intention on giving her even one of the pills, in fact I'll call the vet and give him a piece of my mind tomorrow.

My problem is, I looked at the bill, and the shot she was givin was a baytril injection. I'm concerned that this injection will harm the pups or their mother. Since there are not emergency vets in this town, and both offices are currently closed. I'm posting here in hopes of an idea on what to do.
