Default sheltie coat problems

My sheltie doesnt have a coat. he has next to no undercoat and his hair is short. His mother and father have very heavy coats. His littermates that I have seen also have heavy coats. His dad's drags the ground! However Ruckus has coat more like a border collie or aussie. He has never had any coat and he is going on 2yrs old now. I have changed his food, gave him fish oil, added another skin and coat suppliment, and had his thyroid checked twice. Nothings is working.

I know shelties are sheders, but he has never stoped blowing his coat. I brush a small handfull of hair off of him daily. about once a week I do what I call "de-furring" the rug. I take an old slicker and gently run it accross the rug. Everytime I do this I get half a wal mart bag full of hair. and not loose hair, but tight hair in layers! It is really unbeilievable.

I will be interested to see what answers are put in here. I also have a sheltie. When she was a year old, her coat was beautiful, nice undercoat, etc. Now that she is a coming two year old, she also has little to no undercoat, and sheds like crazy!!! My vet did tell me Shelties shed a lot, but think there is more to it than just ordinary shedding. We brush and comb at least once a week, and I have to sweep carpets every day or the hair just hangs on our clothes...

How about using some shed control products or may its because of allergy?
