Default Weird Issue With Dog... Hair Loss, Scaly Skin

I looked it up and all things pointed to the culprit being ringworm. It doesn't make any sense though since there are no rings on the dog. He is just losing hair off of his back. Something more disgusting, he has scaly skin/bumps that feels like eczema or something of the sort. He also has these nauseating pimples on his tummy. My mom annoys the hell out of me because she says that we'll go to the veterinarian for a check-up, but keeps avoiding it likely because she doesn't want to spend any money on it. Kind of selfish, but what am I supposed to do, curse her out? No, absolutely not. I'd appreciate all and any help I can get.

doesn't sound a thing like ring worm to me but the dog needs to go to the vet. if she won't take him, make an anonymous complaint to AC or who ever handles cruelty to animals where you live.

About my mom? Hell no! You sick freak. The forum is called I Love Dogs, not I Hate My Family.

By the way, nobody is beating the dog, there is no cruelty involved. He's well fed, bathed, and kept. I have no idea how he got the condition.

Anyone with a more productive answer?

oh, excuse me - I thought you wanted help for the DOG. you will be interested to know that not providing necessary veterinary care IS cruelty to animals.

there are many things that constitute cruelty that don't involve "beating", in fact most don't

So then I'm assuming that you would report your own mother to the animal cruelty authorities. What kind of person are you?

If it really was cruel then my dog wouldn't be happy, he still is happy. I'm just worried about the condition of his skin and asked if this could be remedied at home.

By the way, you're excused.

--

If anyone can help me with this then I would be grateful. If I must then I will try to bring him to the vet myself.

this could be mange, flea allergy, thyroid or other conditions. you can't treat it at home without knowing for sure what is causing the condition. the only way to find out is take him to the vet - the vet will most likely do a skin scraping & blood tests.

if my mother was neglecting her dog, I would tell her she needed to take the dog to the vet. if she refused - I would have recoused myself & had another officer handle it

I arrested a friend for her dogs death - because the dog had so much poop matted in the hair around its behind, it couldn't poop. she was found guilty.

just so you know - even if you did beat & kick your dog it would most likely still be happy & glad to see you.

Default Sounds like YEAST

What you described sounds like yeast. It can be systemic and affect the dog organs as well. It is hard to treat, but a good diet low in carbs and an anti-fungal such as Ketoconozole can help in big ways...I have first hand knowledge because my golden is going thru this now. I am also a nurse/female and have had a yeast infection several times. Look up yeast infection in dogs on-line. It can be a big help. Dianne

very good point dianne. it could also be food or grass allergies.

check your dog food & see if it has brewers dried yeast in it. if it does not that doesn't mean it is not a yeast infection

corn, soy, & wheat are other allergens

same thing with my dogue de bordeaux, several visits to vets 2 courses steriods several creams and special shampoos £300 later skin scrapes etc still same, would clear up for few weeks then reappear vet said different things i went for second opinion etc. out walking her in the park i bumped into lady who breeds english bull terriers she told me it was hormonal and to rub aqueous cream into area and give her a spoonfull of butter in her food daily this seems to have worked better than anything vet gave her its been 6 weeks and her hair is almost grown back and it did start when she had her 1st season hope this is helpful.

sometimes you have to take matters in your own hands and take the dog/cat to vet yourself. if you mother won't do it herself. it is unhealthy and unsafe to make a dog suffer. we as humans don't suffer when something is wrong so why should a pet?

a vet should clear up answers and diagnosis.

I think that it has to go to a vet and if your mother wont pay then I suggest that you raise your own money and if you need any help we're here to help you.

Try to prove your mom that your dog is not worth throwing out.
Dogs are also living beings, they have the right to be loved and cared by their owners.
Take your dog to a vet to check him up.

If you recieve an allowance, maybe you should offer to pay for the vet yourself. And you could call the vet yourself and set up the appointment and then tell your mom what day and time it is.

I would talk to my mom and ask her how I could pay off the bill by doing whatever she needed done around the house...

You really need a diagnosis before you can try anything... Good food is the best health insurance you can give your pup...... What do you feed him.

PS. it is instinct for dog's to hide their pain and discomfort..
