Default 8 wk old Pug w/enlarged heart???

Last night our 8 week old Pug named Siya started having extremely labored respirations. She had been fine up until last night aside from the normal Pug breathing issues. She was out in the garage with us visiting w/ the neighbors having a great time then later when we came in she started having the respiratory problems. We thought it was possibly an allergic reaction so we gave her Benadryl this didn't help much so my wife & I were up through the night watching her. MY wife took her to the vet where they treated her with Oxygen therapy and some bronchial dialators. They took x-rays and said they think she has a enlarged heart? They said she may require surgery but there is no gaurantee I gues my question is if the heart is enlarged why the sudden onset it seems that we would have noticed this sooner as she has been a normal puppy til now.
Has anyone elase experienced this with their puppy? If so what did you do for treatment? And what was the outcome?
PLEASE! Any information would be greatly appreciated....My wife & kids are very upset about all this...

Thank you,

JB

they took X-rays & think she MAY have an enlarged heart?? don't understand that one.

you say you think you should have noticed this problem sooner - how long have you had her? actually she shouldn't have left her mother & litter even now.

have you notified the breeder? do you know who the breeder is? do you have a health guarantee from the breeder? check & see if your state has a puppy lemon law & what it says. this is a genetic condition so the dogs behind him should never have been bred

my guess unfortunately is she came from a byb or puppy mill that could care less about the puppies they sell.

if the vet is correct, the future is not good for your puppy.

that's sad... consult a vet so they can check what's happening to your pet.

Thanks for your replies...My wife got the Puppy from a byb that her friend put her in touch with. There was no contract or gaurantee that I know of. This is the first puppy we have even purchased the other two dogs we have were adopted. Unforntunately I think we are learneing a valuable lesson the hard way...I thank you for your advice the puppy is going to a different vet today for a second opinion...I just don't want her to suffer and I just wanted advice from fellow dog lovers on what to do...Again I thank you for your replies... I was banned from another forum for this thread for no other reason than the fact that some moderator thought that I was trolling for free vet advice...As I stated earlier in this post...We have been to one vet that told my wife there is nothing they can do...We will go to another vet today for a second opinion...But I suspect it will not be good so I just want to know where to go from here this is really hard on my wife & kids...

Thanks again

Well Siya is still with us...We thought we were going to loose her a couple of times these last couple of days and we actually considered having here put to sleep yesterday because we just don't want her to suffer. Then the vet called my wife and asked her if we wanted to try Lasix before we did that...Of course my wife said YES! and why didn't you suggest this before? Anyway she got the Lasix gave it to Siya and she is doing much better now:-D He also suggested some type of bronchial dialator which my wife didn't get the name of but they would have to order...We are going to see how she does this weekend then on Monday she will go to a different vet...

Please pray for her...

Thank you, JB
