I have recently rescued an approx. 8 week only puppy. She is 17.6 pounds right now. Her mother was a large >100 pound Chocolate lab, Her dad was a >150 pound Dogue de Bordeaux. We live in a small town, vet carries Iams, meaning limited supplies of truly good foods. It doesn't seem to be the right fit with her. We are feeding our boxer primarily homemade food, not necessarily RAW foods with success. Does anyone know of a large breed puppy food that is geared to maintain the right balance for a rapidly growing big dog that we can used to supplement home food.

according to most ethical breeders, large & giant breeds should not have puppy food at all. they should go right onto adult food.

the puppy puts body weight on which will cause skeletal & joint problems as they grow.

have you checked your local feed mill, thats where the good kibble is usually sold

as for a supplement - you would have to know all the percentages of all the other ingredients you are using to see what you are missing.
