hi there. My male shi-tzu did the same thing!! The vet suggested some kind of powder in his food but i never used it. I just made sure that he wasnt able to get to it at all. He is now a year old and i will still catch him trying to do it every once in a great great while. You just have to make sure he isnt allowed to get to the poop. I know its not a great cure but honestly there isnt one. I know how frustrating and gross it can be. Watch the heck out of him. Sorry I couldnt be of more help.

Many dogs have this "icky" habit. The vet told me to try using meat tenderizer in their food, and I have heard that pineapple will also make the poop less palatable. But there is no sure fire way to stop it other than keeping everything cleaned up and away from him. Good luck.
