My Dog is drinking a lot and seems lethargic
I hope I can get some insight. I have a 7-year old female Beagle and she's recently started some peculiar behavior. She's not as energetic as she has always been and the change has been very rapid. It's almost as if she seems depressed. She's also drinking far more water than she ever has before. I've taken her to my vet (really great vets who have lots of satisfied owners and who I've been with for years) and they've done x-rays, a comprehensive blood panel and a urine analysis and found nothing - the only anomaly they found was that her kidneys and liver appeared to be larger than usual, but comparing the x-ray with some others taken a few years ago it seems there has only been a slight increase in size and the assumption is that those organs have always been larger than is usual. There's no evidence of any masses or anything like that. She's very small for a Beagle and must have either been a runt or have another breed in there, so this may explain that. The only other symptom I can mention is that she appears to be licking herself a lot, so I'm thinking there may be some kind of vaginal infection?? Is there anything anyone can think of that would not show up in a urine & blood test? My vet sent out the blood to a lab for a comprehensive panel, but I don't know exactly what it covered - I can only assume that she covered everything related to kidneys and liver. I would appreciate any insight. Thank you.
