This summer by dog has been getting a lot of fly (mainly mosquito) bites, we can feel the little bumps through her fur. We give her sentinel so I'm not worried about heartworms or anything, but I am concerned about my poor dog's comfort.

Last night, she kept my mom up until 3am trying to scratch her bites. She'd push her chest (where a lot of them are) along the bed and even pushed all the blankets onto the floor by doing this. The vet told us today that we can use kid's bug spray on her and calomine lotion. Does anyone else have a dog with similar problems or suggestions on what else we can do?

Did your vet do a skin scraping to be sure it's bites and not mites or chiggers? Flies usually bite on the ears, not the tummy, and dogs usually don't react to mosquito bites the same way humans do. They usually don't get bumps or itch from mosquito bites.

Thanks for that info! She's protected from most parasites with her sentinile, but I'm going to check that out for sure. The vet didn't actually examine her, she just gave us info over the phone.
