Unhappy Help...lump on ear!!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I found a lump on my dog's,Waggles, ear.I am afraid it is cancer but my mom just says "oh he probably got it caught on something." But if he got it caught on something could the infection kill him? I am really worried about him.
the lump is as big as about the size of 2 quarters(I think.)

The only way to know for sure is to go to the vet. Some lumps are just benign cysts, filled with fluid, and can be left alone with no problem. If it is an infected sore, then just like any infected sore, it needs to be monitored. If it fails to heal, and begins to show signs of spreading, then antibiotics will be needed. Don't worry yourself sick until you've seen the vet. An anxious owner is not helpful to any pet.

You need to have your dog looked at by a vet to figure out what's wrong. There are several possibilities. One very common problem is a hematoma. This is a collection of blood caused by trauma to the ear; scratching, shaking the head, getting it caught on something, that sort of thing. Another common cause of lumps on the ear is a papilloma; a benign growth. They usually don't cause any problems unless the dog scratches them open and they get infected.

Most lumps on the ear are not cancer. So don't let that scare you. But it still should be looked at by a vet.

Our Rhodesian Ridgeback used to get a hematoma on his ear from shaking his head. It would break the blood vessels and cause a hematoma to form. The vet would have to drain it. Not sure if that is what your dog is experiencing, but a trip to the vet is probably a good idea!

It could be a lipoma, a cyst, hemotomas, or just a blister. Have it checked by a vet.

I agree that there are several possibilities. To keep yourself from worrying, bring him to a vet. I'm sure your dog will be just fine.
