Unhappy I need some help

Hi,I am new to this forum but it is not on a good note.My name is Tiffany,I have a lab,pit mix named Buck she is 9 yrs. old and a sweet baby. She has always had problems with her leg and I have taken her to vets and they said that she probably had athritis and didn't help me out much. She has been pretty bad off the last month so I took her and found out she has severe hip dysplaysia in one leg and severe athritis in both legs. She also has torn ligaments in the one leg.So following the vets advice we put her on weight food and supplements, pain pills. She has her moments that she is perky but she is in a lot of pain the majority of the time, doesn't even want to get up to go to the bathroom and she can't even run. He said that she shouldn't have surgery because her health is not good and she wouldn't make it through surgery.I have come to the painful decision to have her put to sleep and cremated,I am very confused and don't know if I'm doing the right thing.I don't want her to suffer and be in pain.He said she is only going to get worse and the winter will be hard on her.I feel really guilty about doing this and I feel like it is my fault she is this way but I feel it may be the best.I don't want to keep her on pain pills(the highest dosage is what she is on),I've never had to do this and I feel lost and depressed.I'm sorry this is so long but I don't have people to talk to.Can someone tell me if I'm doing the right thing?

this is hard. I'm watching my dog die as well. Did you ask about Metacam? its really helping my dog to had hip and tumor problems resulting in long term pain. I haven't ever faced it yet, but everyone says the dog will tell you when its enough. And its never easy. Call on your friends for support.

I had her on cosequin and wasn't seeing any results,I think its because it is such a severe case of the disease. It's hard and I see the way she looks at me and I know she's in alot of pain.I used to work at a vets office so I know how the procedure goes,i've seen it many times but it's different when it's your dog.I am planning on doing it next week,I've been going over it for a couple months and it's getting worse by the weeks.the vet said eventually her legs will collapse and she will have to be carried outside.I don't think that's a good life for her and I know it wouldn't be a happy one.I just hope I can go through with it,but want her to not suffer anymore. What's wrong with your dog?
