My dog is six years old. He is always active and healthy. Recently he has lost a significant amount of weight, although he is still eating, maybe not exactly like he was, but he is eating. And, he drinks over two gallons of water a day. He went to the vet as this all began and I was told all tests were negative. Any ideas or anyone with any experience please help.

Did they do a full blood panel on this dog? This could be anything from renal failure to diabetes. If they didn't do a full blood panel, get one done immediately. There is something wrong with your dog, this is not normal. My first guess would be kidney failure.

I'd get a full blood panel done, even if it was done before. Also a thyroid panal, urinalysis and testing for diabetes insipidus... which has nothing to do with blood sugar.
