Default Health question, help me if you can..

My Golden's puppies are due in 7 days or maybe sooner. Yesterday I noticed her stool was black. Is this normal or should we go to the vet?

well, i've never really had a dog as a pet. this is my first. nor have i heard of something like this before. but i do work in the medical field for humans..and I say if there is black substance in the stool, especially consistently, go to a vet. one, it can't hurt. secondly, you dont want to chance any harm on the future of the puppies.

It will end up being one of those, "nature taking its course" thing. The time will come and be over in a blink of an eye. Then you'll look down at such a precious brood. You'll have to take pics and post them

I don't think its anything to worry about. She is in her last stage of pregnancy and all sorts of strange things occur in the body. But, because she is pregnant, it doesn't hurt to have her checked out, or even just call the vet and ask if it is anything to be concerned about.

Congratulations and I hope the delivery goes well. Please post a pic of the puppies when they are born.

The usual cause of black stools is blood. It could also be from something she ate, but it's best to have it checked out, especially if it continues.
