Default What medicine is best to treat a dog for fleas?

Is Frontline Plus or Revolution a better medicine to treat a dog for fleas? He is a 75 pound German Shepherd mix and we've had a hard time getting rid of his fleas. Also, how would you treat fleas in a yard?

I don't believe you can treat fleas in a yard. But I'm not too terribly sure. You have to treat your house instead.

I am using Frontline for the first time and I'm not sure I am pleased with it.

I live in Texas and its pretty warm here so the fleas are everywhere. My puppy is still biting himself and/or scratching himself like there is a flea or two still on him.

Since I did buy the expensive product I will continue to try it for the 3 months, but my vet gave me a prescription for that Comfortis so I want to try that.

But there are those people who love Frontline and think its worthwhile.

I use Comfortis. It is amazing how quickly it kills fleas.

You can treat your yard, but it's expensive and it will be a continuing battle, because other animals (like stray cats) will be bringing fleas into your yard all the time. Spinosad, the same ingredient used in Comfortis, is available for use outside. In fact, it was first used as an agricultural pesticide. Ask at a lawn & garden shop, or farm store.
