Default new puppy needs help

Hey There, This is memawphil and I need advise. My golden puppies are now 4 weeks old. My mama dog stop feeding over a week ago. I have been feeding softened puppy food and all is eating well. However, I have one male pup that was used for a nursing tool by several of the runts. His gential area is RAW!! What can I do to help it to heal? I have separated him from the rest and keeping a eye on the litter so they don't do the same to another male pup. Is this behavior normal?? What should I do? How can I help the one that has the raw gential area? Please Help me ASAP!! Thanks in advance, Phyllis

I would advise you to contact your vet today as well as calling your breed mentor or the breeder of your dog to ask him/her for advise. May I ask why you chose to breed this dog? Is she a champion? Does she have any titles in obedience, hunting or other events? Is she at least 2 years old and tested by OFA & CERF for genetic hip, elbow, heart and eye disease?

A vet is the one who can tell you what the problem is.

this is a common problem amongst puppies of that age and I would talk to your vet he can probably give you a salve to use
but also you need to prevent the puppies from doing that....

and that means watching them and moving them away when they do that.... just redirecting them to other things

I am more curious as to why the mother stopped feeding them completely a week ago.... that is more of a concern to me than anything... I would want to check her for mastitis ..... and make sure that she is fine, historically my girls will allow pups to nurse right up to 6 weeks or so.... not for long but definitely allowing it

for a mom to naturally wean at 3 weeks tells me that she is very sore .... and that could be an infection or impacted area and is cause for concern.
