I truly want him to enjoy the last year, months or days of his life- comfortably.
FYI- our vet tells me he is old and unless I want to spend money on blood work and expensive medication- then I need to understand that Buddy is just getting old??? I get that!!!- switching vets also
Open for suggestions and or experience in older dog care!!
Thank you.

Hi Sue,
I can't help with the dosage question. I have my 11-year-old hound on Daysaquin. He is also on Rimadyl and another pill for pain. Just this week I had to make a step for him so he doesn't jump off the bed anymore. He still goes on twice-daily 2 mile walks but we let him set the pace--he just refuses to be left behind when I'm walking my young guy.
I'd switch vets, too. Of course, we realize that they are getting older. But, that doesn't mean we don't want them comfortable and healthy as long as possible. I absolutely love my vet--she is totally on the same page regarding treatment--when to and when to stop....we went through hell together last year with my old girl before we agreed that she had fought the good fight and couldn't fight no more....it cost a pretty penny (even with plenty of discounts and freebies) but it wasn't about the money it was about giving her a chance. My old boy is pretty much deaf now and he sleeps a lot. When he sleeps, he is hard to wake and I can see the confusion at first when I wake him--takes a minute for the fog to clear.
