Because you love your dog
Because you love your dog I hope you will research these 3 subjects (and keep an open mind until you have seen all the facts (so to speak). The subjects are: 1. Commercial dog food 2.What a dog needs-nutritionwise
3. About vaccinations As I do not to want to repeat some of what I've already posted before and to give a little background also--please see some of my other postings on nutrition, and esp. on enzymes -German Shepard entry for 1. But before I list some web addresses, I'd like to say this: A dog's natural life is suppose to be about 10 years longer (and healthier) but man has managed to shorten it. Dogs are dying much sooner because of not being fed right. Commercial dog food is full of diseased and euthenized animals, moldy grains,(grains are not meant for dogs to begin with), nothing fresh-all enzymes are cooked out.--Please put enzymes in your browser.(I haven't checked it out but I'm sure there will be info there--also try enzymes/dogs etc. There is much more 'crap' to find out about commercial dog food on the addresses I will put here (too much for me to put in this post) I know most of you are afraid to feed raw meat/bones--I was too but your dog needs this!! I've done a lot of studying on all this and finally-after 8 or so yrs.---got it right!!!--you have to see this if you will just check it all out. I don't want to sound like a 'know it all' but I feel so sorry for all dogs and want to do all I can to help them. Another killer---vaccinations, esp. rabies! Won't say more here (as I get so 'heated up'). Just please check out these websites--for your dog's sake! I am going to end this post and come right back when I get all the websites organized----in another hr or so--maybe sooner. Please bear w/me, I'm self taught on the computer and slow--don't laugh--I type 1 handed also.

Hi Corky/Max,
You do have a time with posting stuff!
As I mentioned in another post, I am studying human nutrition because a drastic change in diet gave me my life back. Then, it occurred to me--while dealing with a very sick dog--that perhaps the same thing that had made me so sick was a issue for my pack. It was rather a "duh" moment for me. Obviously, if eating a diet of highly processed, chemicalized, diet full of "food-like substances" made me sick and depressed what was that doing to my dogs?
Anyway, I still have more to learn about dog nutrition and I still have concerns about serving raw meat to my dogs--not because I don't understand the value of quality raw meat but rather because obtaining meat worthy of serving raw is hard to do. Probably the only way I'd feel comfortable doing that is if I raised my own rabbits and chickens to use as dog food. Otherwise, I don't trust what comes from the typical slaughterhouse enough to serve it raw.
When I get done with these finals, I'll read up more on the subject and see if anyone can convince me otherwise.
Anyone know of any classes one can take or books that give a quality review of dog nutrition?

If you don't get a tear in your eye, a lump in your throat, and/or get just plain mad when you read the letters that are on this site--you don't love dogs!! Holistic Weimaraners Mailing List - Vaccines see web result--Holstic Weimaraners mailing list-vaccines--2nd listing you might check out too but the 1st 1 is the 1 I'm talking about.
