Default HELP! Has anyone lost a dog to cushings?

Logged in as greengrass Title:HELP! Has anyone lost a dog to cushings?

Message: My mastiff mix, eight almost nine year old dog was diagnosed with cushings last spring. She went through weekly test, 14 pills a day, IV's, x-rays and ultrasounds to name a few, for a total of nine weeks. We decided to stop treatment because she just couldn't take anymore, and until this past week she's been relatively good. Her belly has become so hard and swollen, and tonight she's come down with a fever and she's standing funny...legs out to the sides. When I ask the doctors what to whatch for I get the same explanation of cushings. Has anyone lost a dog to this, I can't bear to think she's suffering. She's still running to meet us at the door, eating and not having accidents. Anyone?

Default Cushing's

I just put Cushing's Syndrome in dogs in my browser and it brought up a lot of web results. Suggest you try it out--I think it will answer a lot of your questions and I noted some new drugs etc were mentioned----might talk to your vet about some of this info. too. Vets do not know everything---not sure what you will find---I've posted quite a few websites under title Because you love your dog today and though it looks like they may not pertain--you just might find something---a lot of reading there though but it might be worth looking into. Wish I could be of more help. Good luck.

I keep thinking about the hard and bloated stomach and even though it is far frm to do w/ the Cushing's---I still can't get Bloat out of my mind--Could that possibly be the recent change in your dog---Full-chested dogs are more prone to this happening---This can be fatal very quickly if not taken to vet right away. I know I'm probably adding to your anxiety, sorry. You might look up bloat in dogs---symptoms--signs--treatment.

I have two dogs with cushing's and I agree with Corky/Max. I think there is more than just cushing's going on with your girl. I see that you posted two days ago so I do hope that you took your dog to the vet.

If you want to learn more about cushing's and benefit from the sharing of first hand experience, please visit CanineCushings.net. There are a lot of folks there that can help.

I'm thinking there is definatly more than cushings going on with your dog especially with your dogs age.

I know many mastiffs only live to be around 8-10 years old. I would definatley get the vet to look at her or get a second opinion.

There is something more going on
