hi
ive not tried extra virgin coconut oil. but i do use coconut oil regulary on my dogs coat (and old english). i use about 1/2 teaspoon and rub it in before grooming, its not greasy and i add essential oils to it too, lavender, rosemary and tea tree. its like a great conditioner, wash out or leave in!
i do give one of my dogs cod liver oil, an omega oil and have tried him also on aloe vera oil (but he didnt like that). my staffy has spinal problems so we try to keep him well oiled.
do you have any more information about the benifits of the extra virgin coconut oil?

I don't have any personal info about the extra virgin coconut oil...I ran across it while googling the types of oils that were best for preparing dog food.
thanks for sharing your experience. my Jax has had terrible skin & coat problems for the past 2 years. I used it on his coat & he looks like he is finally starting to heal!
Thanks for the info corky!

extra virgin cold-pressed organic coconut oil for dogs!
Yes, coconut oil is extremely beneficial to dogs (and cats, parrots and even humans!). It contains medium chain-fatty acids that are anti-tumor, any fungal, and anti-microbrial. This means that coconut oil supports a dog's immune system.
Mighty Mite Dog Gear carries Cocotherapy coconut oil. It's organic, cold-pressed and packaged in glass - so it is the best coconut oil available on the market (and yes, you can consume it along with your pets - this is human grade stuff!).
You can purchase it from our website here:
Mighty Mite Dog Gear - Coco Therapy
We also carry cookies - coconut oil chips - made from pure pieces of coconut also available in the link above.
There's a wonderful article from the Whole Dog Journal that explains all the amazing benefits of adding coconut oil to yours and your pet's diet:

My mom is a big fan of VCO she use it for cooking
I use it for moisturizing my skin after taking a shower.
It leaves my skin soft and supple.
I also use it to condition and moisturize my hair.

I used to give this to Lucky with her dinner. About a spoonfull. Since the first jar was gone I heven't bought another but probably should get her back on some. Didn't noticer much of a difference when she was on it and not, but internally it could have been doing its job. I also feed a raw diet and fish oil so that's probably why there wasn't a huge difference in coat luster being that it was already wonderful before the stuff.
