Smile Sores on belly, what's wrong with my dog

Hi there
Our puppy is 3 months old. When we got her a month ago we noticed a skin irritation, and some bumps on her belly. They grew and got bigger, like zits filled with pus and hard. We brought her to the vet. They perscribed antibiotics and said it was a minor skin infection. The spots cleared up during the 10 days on the antibiotics but since have come back. They are smaller and not as hard, and do not have puss, but they seem to have spread. There are small spots around her vulva area. Im not too sure what this is and if we should just bring her back and get more antibiotics. Seems to be something else.
The spots seem to irritate her if we touch them. She doesnt lick them much and it only seems to bother her if we touch the area.
Thanks for any help or suggestions you might have.

Not sure. I'd take her back to the vet.

You might need to give her some yogurt (with active cultures) or kefir or probiotics in capsule form to replace the gut flora that the antibiotics kill. She could be getting a yeast infection which can happen after a course of antibiotics and the probiotics will help bring the gut flora back into balance.

What are you feeding the puppy?

One of my dogs had this problem when I gt her, the breeder was feeding her CRAP (She was on Eukanuba) As soon as I changed her food the skin problem went away within about a week. What are you feeding?

Medical? Do you mean the breeder feeds an RX diet? That is BAD BAD BAD!

At least YOU did some research about food and have made a great choice.

Default Food continued

Hey,
Thanks!
The food she was on was Medi-Cal it is recommended by vets. Is this the food that you are thinking of?
The stomach sores do not seem to be improving with the Origin so far.

Question Any Resolution?

Did you ever find any solution for your problem? The pictures that you attached look just like the sores that my dog keeps getting on her stomach. She gets one or two of them at a time, and they go away within a couple of days, but they leave a scar. Then a week later, she gets another one or two.

My dog doesn't get those but my cat does. I took her to the vet and he said it was a skin allergy. The cat will not leave it alone, so it never heals.

my golden has the same thing but hers is much worse we took her to the vet and he said it was because of the hair on her genitals combined with our longer grass keeping her urine on her body causing an infection. i have taken my grass down as low as my mower will go and we wash her with soap and water after she pees it does not seem to be helping so if you find a cure please post

When we first got our dog, she had some strange stuff around her teats. Since then it has cleared up considerably. There is hardly any of it left when before she had it extending up almost to her ribcage. The day we went to pick her up, we asked the previous owner what she had been eating so we could buy her the same food. He said it was just "the brand you buy from Walmart..." Instead of buying her Walmart food, we got her quality food. My dog's skin condition doesn't sound anything like what your dog has, but changing my dog's diet made a big difference in her health, maybe it can help you, too.

Default skin allergies

sometimes a rash shows from skin allergies which could be from a variety of things such as shampoos, food, cleaners, materials so on. Infections are often caused by allergies ask your vet/do some research and try elimination but you will have to remove the infection first if that is what it is.
