Default rashes like patch on pup

Hi..

I have a 2.5months old Shih Tzu. I noticed that she scratches her tummy often, and when i turn her and see wats wrong, i noticed tat there a small rashes like patch on her tummy. Wondering wats wrong with her.. I've asked a petshop owner and he told me it mayb coz of the area is not cleaned properly, so he suggested me to wipe her with a clean damp cloth.. if it doesnt improve, it mayb coz she's allergic to her food (currently feeding her puppy dogfood - chicken).

I've been wiping her with a clean cloth everyday, but she still scratches that area. Please advise. Thanks.

You should take her to your vet and have her checked by him. Pet store owners can only guess at the problem. Asking a pet store owner about a medical problem with your dog is like asking your childs babysitter what the problem is when your child is sick. They can guess and give you their opponion, but cant give you a true diagnosis of the problem. Chances are its nothing serious, but why take the chance.

we had a problem with a rash on Poppy's stomach near her private bits etc as well, the vet thought that she was allergic to something she had come in contact when squatting for a wee. We had a week of antibiotics which didn't work, it seem to be getting worse instead of better, so we went back to vet and they gave us a different antibiotic and a tube of Steriod cream to apply twice aday, well thankfully with the cream it has gone. Only down side was she had to wear a collor round her head for an hour to stop her licking the cream off, she looked at me with such sad little eyes it was pitiful:???:bless her. also all the massaging of the cream in to the effected area, helped to bring her in to having a phantom so not my month really

best take your pup to the vet to get her checked out i think

The petshop owner is the last person I'd ask for medical advise. Take the pup to the vet. It could be an allergic reaction to environmental allergens or to food allergens or medication allergens or it could be a parasite under the skin or a disease like Lyme (Lyme in humans usually has a target shaped rash I'm not sure about in dogs)...
