Default Weepy eyes

I have noticed today that almost 9 week pup has yellowy/green discharge from her eyes.
I read on-line to add Apple Cider Vinegar to her food, at her age just about 1/2 teaspoon twice a day.
Any advice?

Like their human owners, dogs sometimes wake up with "sleepers" in their eyes -- a crusty discharge that results from the eye's natural self-cleaning efforts. All pets will occasionally have some discharge, although bulgy-eyed breeds such as pugs, Pekingese are much more prone to it than others.

"If you can wipe away the sleepers in the morning with a damp tissue and they don't accumulate to any extent during the day, then you generally don't have to worry about it," says Nancy Willerton, D.V.M., a veterinarian in private practice in Denver. "But when the discharge continues throughout the day, your pet may have an infection."

I tried the vinegar in her food, and I don't know if it was coincident, but her eyes are fine now.

Default home care/weepy eyes

I recently rescued a dog with weepy eyes that were diagnosed as a fungal infection. The discharge smelled like a musty towel and a medicated eye ointment was used. Usually a green or yellow discharge indicates a bacterial infection which would need an antibiotic if it worsens or does not get better on it's own. Young pups don't have their natural immunities built up yet, so aren't able to fight off infection like an older pup or adult. I'd say treatment is necessary. Given that they have responded to the vinegar treatment, you are probably dealing with a fungal infection, but those aren't usually accompanied by the yllow/green discharge. My guess is that you have a bit of both. Were they my pups, I'd continue with the vinegar wash and wipe out the discharge. This way you are treating both a fungus and removing excess bacteria. If it worsens, I would then get them to a vet within a few days.

One time my dog got really bad eyes, he could hardly open them at all and leaking green stuff, i took him to the vet, and they gave him a tiny tiny bottle of eye drops, it worked, but i later found out that polysporin for eyes ( that u get for humans) does the exact same thing, his eyes got a little weepy again a while later and i tryed the polysporin for eyes and they cleared up right away, i would try that but if the problemy persists then to the vet.. eyes are super important!

I'm not totally sure what caused my dogs eyes to get weepy and green stuff, it actually was really bad, and only took a couple days to get like it, i think it might have been a flea coller, seems he is VERY sensitive to flea meds.... anyways try polysporin for eyes, can save in a vet bill!
