I know absolutely nothing about a dog being in heat----but until some other member with knowledge replies---I can quote from a vet book I have: Bitches become sexually mature when they exhibit their first heat period, usually between 6 and 12 months of age, although there is considerable variation. Toy breeds become sexually mature several months earlier than giant breeds. Sexual maturity does not correspond to physical maturity--the attainment of adult height and weight--which generally happens at about 14 months of age. Proestrus: The initial stage of the heat cycle lasts an average of nine days (the range is 3 to 17 days). The first sign is a bloody discharge from the vulva. In early proestrus, the discharge may be light pink to yellow. If you are not sure about the discharge, wrap a tissue across the
vulva. If you see a pinkish color, the bitch is in heat. Along with a discharge
there is firm swelling of the vulva. (end of Quote) I am not going to copy the rest that tells about the 2nd phase through the 4th phase and when to breed, hormonal effects, etc. You could put heat cycle/dog in your browser
if you want to find out more.---maybe even words abnormal heat cycle/dogs.
I'm sure someone here can help you out with this as there are some dog breeders in this forum.
