Unhappy Im desperate here!!!!!!!!

Please help me...i have a neighbor who has an bullmastiff. Hes about a year old. Last year i would walk over and feed and water him. Now this year he has gotten really skinny and you can see his ribs. My fiance went over with his mom and they took a look at him. She fed him some dog food..but he wouldnt eat. I went over tonight and gave him some food and water and he ate all the food and drank some water. I am very worried about this dog. He might possibly have worms. Is there anything that i can do for him?? I dont think that my neighbor feeds him. He is chained up all day long!! Even in the winter time. Especially when its really hot..i will walk over and give him some water. Usually his bowl is bone dry!!! I dont want to take this dog from them and send it to the pound. I know that no one is going to want to adopt him. Its a sad site when i can see his ribs and back bone. You can tell this dog is starving...but my fiance suggested that he might have worms?? What do i do???

Can you call animal control and report the owners? It is illegal to contain a dog with no shelter or fresh water.

Oh that is really cruel of them. At least you are there to help the dog. I second the motion, report the owners to animal control!

If you dont want to call animal control, is there any chance that you can talk the owner into letting you have the dog? If not or if your not in a position to take the dog then by all means call animal control. As hard as it may be, your only doing the poor dog a dis-service by not doing anything to help correct his living conditions and what ever medical problems he may have.

Animal control will be able to check the situation out and talk to the owners - they might not have to take the dog away. Maybe it will be the wakeup call the neighbors need?

Default maybe

You may be able to buy some wormer and give it to the poor dog, until you can get him to the vet to check for anything else, or until(if you do) take him to the animal control.
