Default Allergic Reaction please iam desperate

Hi,
My Tucker who is 6 years old and his a Bichon Frise is very poorly.
We went to get a flea and tick and he normally has frontline but the vet give him duowin contact on Thursday afternoon.

About 7 pm he started running around and very agitated and I decided to wash him. I did so and he seemed a bit calmer also my stupid husband then give him 1/2 a paracetamol tablet which he never had much of it but some of it.

He was very resless all night. The next day he was a bit brighter but very lethargic and I rang the vet and explained the situation and he told me he must have been allergic to the duowin contact. Yes I bloody know that I felt like saying but didnt. He said to see what he is like in a few days.

I give the dog another bath has that seems to help him.

Today (Saturday) Tucker is still not very well and Iam taking him to the vet again at 3 pm .He is eating weeing and having poos but Iam so frightened for him.
I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and how long does it take for them to start feeling better.
Iam so so frightened for him and could not bare the thought of losing him as he is our baby.

Please please suggest anything that might make him better.
He is such a normally bright fit and extremely intelligent little dog.
He weighs approximately 5 Kg

I've been doing a little research on line----and for topicals--Dawn dish soap and warm water to remove it--to read about this put Adverse Reactions from Flea Control Products - Vol. 15 in your browser--I know biospot is not the issue--but this is letters from people who have had side effects from several dif. types of flea and tick topical medications and you can read about the Dawn there and how good it works----also being as they do not wish to ever use any of these 'poisons' again--there are several things mentioned on using safe natural ingredients. Did you know that Bichons are allergy prone? And incidently my sister has a Bichon. I would surely stay away from any further medications (poisons) for flea and ticks and try something else--allergic reactions can become worse---resistance wear-down I think. It sounds like your dog will be okay soon--being as it is eating--no diarrhea--no vomiting----One thing you could check his heart rate, and I can't tell you what it should be right now--I know it is a little faster than a human's. Might want to put heart rate/dogs in your browser.

My cocker had a similar reaction to Rimadyl--only 1 tablet and he kept me up all night--looking at me as if saying help me. I had the feeling his heartbeat was prob. excellerated and he was antsy--but not lethargic FYI--the ingredients in this Duowin is permethrine and pyriproxyfen. Will send this to you now and if think or find something else, will get back to you. Glad you are taking him to vet though. Have to say this--I don't put much stock in vets--esp the meds part and the crappy dog food they sell so hope you think this is a good vet---they are hard to find! Hope your baby will be well soon.
Does he have any other health issues that could be compromised because of this reaction? And you are right of course, he is your baby--mine are too--give him a hug for me.

I personally only trust Frontline. At the vet clinic I worked at there were often reported allergic reactions to other brands and sometimes even seizures. The standard protocol was to wash the dog in Dawn dish soap and water a few times. However, many times these dogs needed to see the vet. I hope your dog is better, keep us updated, my best wishes!

My dog is Very senstive to flea meds, seems every time he has it something is wrong, one gave him a BAD eye infection and one that he had when he went to a kennel basically burned a hole on his back!! thankfully though he does not need flea meds much, i think in the 2 years (he is 3) that i have had him i found 1 flea! and i killed it!

i hope your dog is feeling better,

Does anyone know of Natural flea medicine you can get? i have herd talk but never seen any
