Default My pup won't eat

My Shih-poo is 5 months old and brand new to me. I've had him since yesterday, but he won't eat or drink anything. He hasn't eliminated at all either. How long can he do this before I need to really worry?

How about asking the vet for advice.

I am taking him to the vet tomorrow if I can get an appointment, but I found this forum and thought I'd ask in case anyone else had experience with this problem.

Thanks for the reply.

He's started to drink and ate a little. Just gotta get him to "potty" now and we'll be doing good.

sometimes it takes a day for them to get use to the surroundings. if its nibbling and drinking it will potty in due time. still get a vet check as you should with all new fur babies when you get them. the first visit is excellent for asking questions9 how much to feed, how much walking, training questions, etc) and for them to give them a quick exam to make sure all is well with your bundle of fur.

keep us posted.

Since your pup is not drinking or eating anything, there is nothing for him to eliminate. He might still be adjusting to his surroundings. Always have water nearby for your pup to drink just in case. I encountered the same problem for the first few days when I had my first dog. If it persists, go to the vet.

This happens quite often. New surroundings, new people, new smells, pups go through a lot when changing homes. You can try to give a bit of canned plain pumpkin -not the pie filling with spices- this should help him go, by now I hope he went, hope that he is eating and all is well.
