Hi, I'm new here as of right now. Today I received the news from the vet that my 8 year old Cocker Spaniel, Nikki, definitely has Cushings Disease. I was pretty certain she did, because of her symptoms; however, kept hoping it was something else, that could be cured. The vet wants to start her on the Lysodren and I'm all for it if it will help Nikki get back to her old self AND, if it's safe. I'm so worried about when she starts it. The vet told me today I have to watch her carefully and let her know when her appetite decreases because this will be a sign that the meds need to be reduced and time for the first ACTH stimulation test. I'm confused. Is it up to me alone to determine if her appetite has suppressed, because even before Nikki's appetite became ravenous, she had a healthy appetite and I'm afraid I won't be able to tell the difference and she will get too much of the drug. The vet said she will be in touch with me daily but I just wanted to come here and get further info from all of you who have gone through this before me. I appreciate any feedback you can give me. I just want the best for my little girl. Thanks a lot.
