Default Dog Limp

My 10 yr. old Lab mix has started limping after jumping out of the back of the car (hatch back type) - where she rides. Has anyone found joint healing meds that would help this problem? or should I just get a car ramp? She loves to go with me in the car!

Hi, yes, I have found thing's for joint soothing and healing and I'm sure other's will come along also with more...
At 10 year's old though I would get a ramp for her, I had ramp's all over my house for one of mine after he had spinal cord surgery..

Anyway, for the limp, I would try some Arnica Montana 30c (Homeopathic medicine) and some MSM, you can get them both at your local health food store or online...

One dose of Arnica is 3 pellet's.... Coffee, moth ball's or mint's will antidote this remedy though, even the smell of any of these.

PS. I'm not a Homeopath, but I use alot of Homeopathic medicine's on myself and my pup....

Default Homeopathics..

I don't have any problem with homeopathics - I use them myself, but hadn't considered them for the dog. Would you use the MSM in pellet form also, or tablet? or does it come in an oil or lotion?

Hi, MSM is'nt a remedy, it is more like a supplement for joint's.. It usually come's in tablet form..

MSM, methylsulfonylmethane (METH-əl-sul-FON-il-METH-ane) provides sulfur, a vital building block of joints, cartilage, skin, hair and nails, and methyl groups, which support many vital biochemical processes in the body, including energy production. MSM is a naturally-occurring nutrient found in small amounts of many foods. As a dietary supplement, MSM is synthesized. When made correctly, it is identical to that found in nature. MSM can be taken alone or in combination with other joint health supplements, such as glucosamine and chondroitin.

I'd make sure at the vet re: the limp, I hope your dog is no longer limping, there are quite a bit of products out there, dog gone pain, vaxamine K9, Glycoflex II, Synovi MSM plus the rx ones. I will be trying one of these products soon as the meds I have are not agreeing with my dog.

I'd also look online for a Lab Forum and see what other Lab owners are doing for arthritus and joint problems.

I have come on here in the hope someone might be able to help me and my not so little baby. I have a 2 year old rottweiler cross boxer and she is beautiful. For the past 14 months she has been limping on both front legs, she has seen 5 vets not one can diagnose her problem, she had £600.00 worth of xrays done, they did see she had slight hip dysplasia but they couldn't see any problems with her front legs. I have tried various treatments: no exercise then lead exercise only, painkillers, hydrotherepy, accupuncture and a magnetic collar none of which has eased her limping. It is heart breaking to see her walking as she tries to keep up with my 2 year old boxer and she can't. As time goes by the problem is getting worse, she walks so slow like she's 12 years old, I don't want to lose her and I will give anything a try.
