Default diarrhea

Timber has the case of diarrhea. I was a bit concerned as he has had it since saturday. The vet said where it was running sat and trying to firm on sunday and runny today. to just monitor it. he is eating normal and drinking normal amounts. they don't expect it to be anything health related except for an upset stomach.

I thought it could of been the grass he ate friday. we have NO pesticides on our property at all. so I know it isn't that. I tried to catch him on friday every time he ate the grass. but there were some times he was quicker than my eye.

anyone got better reasons why he may have come down with this? I haven't changed his food. nothing has changed in his life except he is listening better .

he still plays the same. I haven't given him anything that we haven't already. no new people or places either. hmm I am baffled. but if it doesn't get better or his appetite and drinking changes I am taking him to vet ASAP.

I already warned the vet and he said he will be there. he lives a few miles from me and we will meet at the office unless it is too bad and he will do a house call with no extra charge.

It hasn't even been that hot either. when it does get warm he has a large fan and a/c in the same room with him. Yes, my pets are pampered.

He isn't showing any signs of dehydration or nothing. I am racking it up to a upset tummy like the vet but I am still concerned.

thanks for listening.

Do you know if the dog has been drinking any 'sitting' water outside that the birds may have contaminated----can't remember what you call it, but there is something that can make the dog sick (diarrhea) caused by the birds. Kind of a coincidence as my neighbor was just telling me about this holistic vet that could tell what was wrong with a dog just by looking at it and that there was this dog that she said this about and had it tested for this and that's what it was----the vet before that she had gone to was baffled as to what was wrong. I just tried to call my neighbor and got no answer. If I find out what it is or more info will get back to you. You could mention something about this to your vet and maybe he will know what I'm trying to say here.

As far as the grass goes--my dogs eat it a lot--have heard they are wanting the silicone (may be misspelled) they need in their diet, also have heard they will eat it if their stomach is upset and/or if they are trying to make themselves throw-up to get rid of something in their 'bellies' that shouldn't be there. My Max was eating it yesterday--whether it caused the gas or he was eating because his stomach was upset--I don't know but he was full of gas last night and kept me up late because of it---Okay today though! I actually plant wheatgrass in the house in the winter and Corky will help himself to it at times and I also chop it fine and add to their raw food diet now and then. Let me know how your dog is doing! Hope this helps.

Nope, no water drank except for the water I took to him. I am outside everytime he is. I bring fresh drink outside and when we go in I dump it and wash the bowl. I rinse it well too. so nope no water on ground or bird water. I have scowered (sp) the property and nothing.

he seems to be feeling better but I will still have my eye on him and the first time I see something or he don't get 100% better in a day off to the vet. I don't mess around with my babies.

my hubby has called 4 times already today to check up on him. gizzy nor the cat have been sick and NO he hasn't gotten to the litter box. he only goes in the room where I go.
he follows me like a puppy and a kid with an ice cream cone. lol.

have a happy doggy day

At this point the best thing to do if he continues is to gather a fresh stool sample and take it to the vet. Though he may just have a mild upset stomach, since he has been eating grass there would be no problem but this could be giardia or coccidia and this can come from bad water or feces. A stool sample in most cases can rule this out. Eating of grass is normal as many dogs will do it because they like the taste of it but in most cases it aids in regurgitation of something that is upsetting there stomach or helps clear a blockage which in turns passes in the stool.

Default yay

good news. timber is back to normal. I am so excited. now we can get some walks in. a little at a time though. It was easy the past few days as it was raining pretty hard here so being sick helped pass the hyperness of the rainy days. I would still prefer him to never get sick though.

just thought I would up date you all.

happy doggy day
