I have a 4-month old Jack Russell who has demedex mange. What is the best food for him? I read something about Innova, but is he old enough for it?

Yes he will be ok on it. the dog food that don't have food stages it is good for all stage dogs. So it will be ok to put your pup on it. Just like The Taste Of the Wild don't have puppy food but it is for all stage dogs so you can feed it to your pup.

Question

Thanks!

What about Wellness for puppies? I read that has Omega 3's and 6's in it. Would that be a better choice for him since it is a skin issue?

Thanks!

Wellness is a good food also. I used to feed it to my little chihuahua. She got so that you wouldn't eat it so i have her on chicken soup for the dog lovers soul. They also have pupppy food in it. Most good dog food has the omega 3& 6 fatty acids. You can also buy Supreme Health MAX Nutrition Enhanced Treats for dogs. It is good for the skin and coats it also has Omega 3 & 6 fatty acids with organic zinc for healthy skin and coats also. You feed them as treats you give one treat to every 10 lbs of body weight. I give them to all of my furbabies.

NuVET is excellent for dogs like yours. Your dog also needs nutritious food like boiled rice, steamed carrots and peas to boost his immune system.

I have been feeding Blue Buffalo to all my dogs for a long time and they do REALLY well on it. I also use it as a weaning and puppy diet for all my puppies and recommend it to my grooming clients. It is the best food I have used. Other great ones as mentioned above are innova, wellness also merrick and nature's variety prairie.

I've been home cooking for my girls for years. Nothing goes into their food that I wouldn't eat myself. They are both thriving on the recipes I've developed for them.

If you decide to put your dogs on a high protein/organic diet take into consideration that higher quality foods might have high protein 25%+. If so, feedings should be slightly smaller depending on the percentage. Some brands have over 35% protein.

Though it is expensive, feedings are much smaller due to the higher calories the food impose by it having such high amounts of nutrients and protein the dog can absorb rather turning them into wast. (Evo, wellness, Innova, home made etc.)

There are so many people with inactive dogs (not the dogs fault, the owners) who get fed the same amount on these high quality foods thinking they are doing good for the dog when they are probably hurting it.

Imagine eating a huge steak dinner with green beans and baked potatoes every single day and not burning some calories. Feed your dog accordingly please

ps.. the order of ingredients in the dog food plays a big role of what "really" is in the bag. Especially the first 3. If the meat product is not the first item DONT BUY IT. And it cant be by-product or rice. Venison, Whole Chicken, Beef always first depending on the flavor you buy.
