dog eats catfood...help!
my niece (cassy) is taking care of her bf's 7 year old shitzu (momo). after eating dinner last night, momo helped herself to some purina pro-one catfood, which momo ended up throwing up (momo has a sensitive stomach and is very picky about what she eats). this morning my niece left breakfast for momo and returned around 5:00p.m. momo did not eat her breakfast and appeared to throw up some water. cassy gave her some water, but momo threw up once again. she did not bark (as she usually does) when someone enters the house and is a little lethargic.
any suggestions?

Perhaps the cat food did not agree with momo, I know dogs will eat cat foods at times and not get sick, I'd call the vet being momo is throwing up water now, I'm not a vet but with the lethargy could be a sign of pancreatitis or another illness, the vet may tell you over the phone what to do

My dog eats the cat food every time he can sneak and get it without getting caught for a while. It doesn't make him lethargic or vomit, but he gets horrendous gas that makes me want to vomit, so it obviously upsets his stomach badly. He gets over it, so I'm pretty sure your pup should too. I wish I could get him to stay away from the cat's food. He knows its wrong, but its like its too tempting at times, I guess.

Most dogs love cat food for some reason. But most the time it don't make them sick but it will give them gas or the runs. So if i was you i would call the vet.

Common
Lots of dogs love cat food - primarily because it is full of fat and extra meat compared to their own food. Some dogs with react poorly to this. You can give dogs pepto in small amounts but i would get to a vet if this carries on much longer.

Cat food is higher in protein and fat than dog food. And that high fat content could have triggered a bought of pancreatitis, which is pretty painful. If not treated pancreatitis can lead to other health problems.
If Momo is vomiting water, she's going to become dehydrated fairly quickly. Dehydration will make her lethargic, and in addition will make her nauseated, which results in more vomiting.
If she's still vomiting and acting sick, get her to the vet. It may be that eating the cat food is just a coincidence, and she has a gastrointestinal infection or something even more serious; kidney or liver disease.
