Blind puppy.
As scared as you must be, try not to panic. There is every chance that whatever caused your little one's blindness can be corrected. You won't know until you've seen the Doctor and he/she runs some test and determines what the problem is. Until then, the only thing you can do is to keep the puppy close to you so that she doesn't get injured by walking into something or falling down the stairs.
Please keep us updated. Will say a special little doggie prayer for your baby. I hope everything works out.

Hi Mymolly, what did the vet say? There are many blind pup's out there that lead a very fulfilling life.... Please let us know what the vet said?
PS. my pup has glaucoma and is only sighted in one eye, eventually it will take his other eye also...

vet
went to the vet who in turn sent me to an opthamoligist in pittsburgh. he examined her and her eyes are healthy, although blind. he wanted to run another test, but it was 278 and i don't have money. if it would have shown the retinas were good, which he saw they were, i next would have a neuro check her out who would give 3 more tests. he met with the neuro and they discussed it and gave her 2 antibioitcs and 1 steroid. if the eye is healthy, it may be caused behind the eyes...optic nerve, brain. she is walking and acting normally so it may be swelling on the optic nerve, an infection of some kind. they were not optimistic of her getting sight back. she goes back in 2 weeks. i am far more upset about this than kip (my puppy). she still takes the porch steps all at once although her landing needs work. i love her with all my heart and we'll get through this. just hope it isn't caused by a tumor or something that i can't fix. thank you all for your kind words and support. this is so hard, yet i will continue to get pets. can't live without them.

Please keep us updated... did you call the breeder and ask him/her is there is any history of this in the line?
If it makes it any better, I have groomed a few blind dogs over the years and they all live totally normal lives. One dog at my local dog park is blind and deaf and does great!

good news and a warning
good news. no, great news. kip is beginning to regain her sight. the meds are working. antibiotic for infection, steroid, and antibiotic for toxins. i figured out what caused her temporary blindness. 2 days prior she had an accident in the house, i didn't know it and carried her mistake throughout my living room (where she sleeps). i used a cheap spot and stain remover and it was toxic to her. it said for pet stains, but didn't say pet safe. do not ever us "Quality Care foaming Spot and Stain Remover". i feel like an idiot but am so grateful this was a temporary situation. PLEASE learn from my stupidity!

So glad to hear that this sad story has a happy ending, bless you for caring so much, and bless Kip as well, I hope you both have a long and happy life together.
