Default blood in urine

my 6 year old dog just came out of heat two weeks ago but has blood in her urine and is having accidents in the house, very unlike her. I have a vet appointment scheduled but is there anything I can do for her until then? She doesn't seem to have any pain associated with urinating so could it still be a UTI?

Yes, Some dogs with cystitis don't show signs of pain, though it does hurt. Good luck at the vets, it will be useful for them if you take a sample of her urine with you in a clean container.

I know this reply is rather late for answering the original post; however, I wanted to add to it just in case anyone else has this situation. If you suspect your dog has a UT infection, make sure he/she has plenty of fresh water. Your dog will pee a lot.

I have a 11 year old American Cocker spanial that had the blood in the urine when she was three years old. It turned out with tests that the vet did that she had bladder stones. The doc put her on a med and it cleared up after a week. She also had to go on a special diet. She is now a senoir and in relatively good health.
