Stopped Eating
I recently (2 months ago) adopted a 2 year old Great Dane. She adapted great and she has become my best friend. The problem is, she has recently stopped eating, she continues to drink an abundence of water but she has lost a lot of weight in the past 2 weeks.
I am concerned about her stomach (twisted???) any suggestions or maybe the symptoms of this

well if it was bloat (twisted stomach) she would have been dead a long time ago. THe symptoms of bloat include trying to vomit with no results, distended, swolen looking stomach, excessive panting, unable to settle or get comfortable. Bloat is fatal, often in only a couple hours so it is not that if this has been going on for more then an hour or 2.
Have you taken her to the vet?
What are you feeding her? Sometimes a food allergy or even poor quality food can make them feel sick and not want to eat.

Please take your dog to vet now! This could be a lot of things--not sure how long a dog can have bloat problems!! Will come back after posting this with info on signs of bloat BUT--This could be kidney problems--could be diabetes-- a lot of things. And maybe he just doesn't like the dog food! What do you feed him??

About Bloat
[B][COLOR="DarkRed"]I don't think this is bloat--and I would certainly ask the vet about the amount of time this could possibly last without the dog becoming an immediate emergency!! Will quote what my vet book says about the signs of bloat. Also here is a good address to click on to read up on bloat: : Bloat in Dogs Also put bloat/dogs in your browser and you will find a lot more on bloat.
I think it would be wise to 'bone up' on BLOAT info for future references as a Great Dane IS one of the breeds that are prone to this happening!!This is quote from my book:
The classic signs of bloat are restlessness and pacing, salvatation, retching, unproductive attempts to vomit and enlargement of the abdomen. The dog may whine or groan when you press on his belly. Thumping the abdomen produces a hollow drum sound.
---Unfortunately, not all cases of bloat present with typical signs. IN EARLY BLOAT THE DOG MAY NOT APPEAR DISTENDED, BUT THE ABDOMEN USUALLY FEELS TIGHT. The dog appears lethargic, obviously uncomfortable, walks in a stiff-legged fashion, hangs his head, BUT MAY NOT LOOK EXTREMELY ANXIOUS OR DISTRESSED. Early on it is not possible to distinguish dilitation from volvulus.
---Late signs (those of impending shock) include pale gums and tongue, DELAYED CAPILLARY REFILL TIME, rapid heart rate, weak pulse, rapid labored breathing, weakness and collapse.
---If the dog is able to belch or vomit, quite likely the problem is not due to a volvulus, BUT THIS CAN ONLY BE DETERMINED BY VETERINARY EXAMINATION.
IN ALL CASES WHERE THERE IS THE SLIGHTEST SUSPICION OF BLOAT, TAKE YOUR DOG AT ONCE TO A VETERINARY HOSPITAL. TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE.

More Thoughts
Hope your dog is starting to feel better--But you should see a vet if it isn't just that she doesn't like the dog food!! Does the dog have any other signs rather than drinking a lot of water and not eating?? It just 'hit me'----There could also be an obstruction of some kind too---also very important to have vet check her out now! Your dog could be in very grave danger here from many different things. Please see a vet and please keep us posted as we worry about the dog if we don't hear back!
