Exclamation westie- blood in feces

My three month year old westie was normal yesterday but today in the morning when i fed her she didn't eat her food unless i put it in my hand.

Later on when she pooped there was blood with her feces... I'm holding it off for today and if it gets any worse I'm bringing "Lola" to the vet....

What do you guys think is wrong with her =S ??? need help..

Something similar happened to my friends jack-a-poo. It turned out to be some kind of intestinal issue. She was put on antibiotics and rehydrated via IV and was back to her old self within 24 hours. By all means, get to a vet a.s.a.p.

Unfortunately, in her case it happened on a weekend when the regular vet was closed so, we had to rush her to the emergency clinic because she was losing a considerable amount of blood. As you may know, emergency clinics (at least here in Canada) cost a bloody fortune. It ended up costing somewhere in the neighbourhood of 400 - 500 dollars. Had we been able to go to her regular vet, the cost would have been half or less that what it ended up costing.

It was just unfortunate timing that the dog happened to get ill on a Sunday. My friend never got pet isurance. Thankfully, Both my girls have excellent pet insurance so, even though I have to put the money up front, (Thank the Goddess for credit cards) I get 80% of the costs back. I can't recommend pet insurance highly enough. Just make sure you shop around and do your homework so you get the best possible coverage for your money. Believe me, the monthly fee will pay for itself over and over, especially as your dog ages and becomes more prone to illness.

I would give it a couple of days before you get too worried about it. A lot of times puppies just get feeling a little bad for a day or two and then snap out of it. If she starts showing any other symptoms though, you would definitely want to get her checked out ASAP. If it's just the not eating though, give it a few.
