Variety in feeding.
I've recently switched my girls to Orijen for their one meal of dry per day. They seem very happy with it but, I worry about them getting bored with eating the same flavour every day. Does anyone have experience with buying two different flavours of the same dry food and alternating it to prevent boredom?

Just for clarification, Dogs do not have many tastebuds compared to humans but have more than cats. :-)

Thank goodness for sample packages!!!
When I switched my girls to Orijen, I bought the red meat variety, figuring it was the safest choice. They loved it. I also picked up one sample package each of the fish and the chicken. The fish did not go over well, to say the least. They both love fish when I buy it fresh from the store and cook it for them but, they wouldn't touch the fish formula Orijen. It ended up in the trash. They don't seem to mind the chicken formula although I can see that they're not crazy about it. So, it looks as if the only one they'll eat with any degree of appreciation is the red meat formula. It just figures that they'd pick the flavour that costs $4.00 more!!!
Does anybody else have dogs who are really picky about their food? Most of my friends dogs will scarf just about anything that lands in their bowls.

Hi
Variety Plan for Feeding Your Dog
Pet Food A, Variety Two is fed for 3 weeks. The fourth week you begin to add small amounts of Pet Food B, Variety One into each meal, each day. By the end of this four week period, your dog will be changed over to Pet Food B, Variety One. Continue with this same process through Pet Food B, Variety Two, then starting all over again. Should your dog show signs of gas or loose stool when switching between Pet Food A and Pet Food B, slow down the change.
Pet owners can provide their dogs with even more variety by adding canned versions of Pet Food A and Pet Food B into the process as well. One option can be one meal dry, one meal canned each day.
For cats: It is not as necessary to change a cat's food slowly, that is unless your cat wants it that way. Cats tend to get accustomed to one food and don't want to change. Some cats like a particular kibble shape and some refuse to eat canned once they are accustomed to kibble. However, if there's a will there's a way.
Thanks
