Constipated???
My buddy is a 7 mo old Lab-mix that used to have a stomach like iron and has eaten EVERYTHING without issue. This week, on 3 consecutive days he vomited undigested food at the same exact time each day. I took him to the vet where he had the million dollar work-up that, of course, turned up nothing. Now 3 days later, on the BLAN diet, the vomiting has stopped, but he has not pooped in almost 4 days. The vet says watch him till we advance him back to full feeds, but I am nervous!! Anyone else tried pumpkin or Metamucil, as I have been reading.....or should I just wait it out???? Thanks for any suggestions!!!

Does your vet know your dog has not pooped for 4 days!!?? How much and what is he eating on this bland diet? I think I would be concerned too if my dog hadn't gone in that length of time. Here is what my home vet book says: Most healthy dogs have 1-2 stools a day. This varies with the individual and the diet. A day or two without stools is not a cause for concern if the stools remain normal in size and pass without difficulty. But when feces are retained in the colon for 2-3 days, they become dry and hard, and require forceful straining to pass. (Me talking here--This could make for a dangerous situation!)
Pumpkin is very good for your dog. It helps regulate the bowels-both constipation and diarrhea. BUT--In this situation, I would call the vet and ask if it would be okay and for sure--Call your vet and tell about your dog not pooping for 4 days!! Did your vet rule out a possible obstruction (May not show up on xrays either!)--Sounds like your dog may have a habit of eating things that are not good for him! What exact same time of day did he vomit---How long after eating? I'm no expert but wondering if there was some kind of obstruction between the stomach and the bowel because of his not digesting his food.--not getting to the bowel which is where dogs (If I got that right)digest their food--after it passes the stomach. Keep us informed as to what happens after being taken off this bland diet and whatever else may develop----This vomiting sounds like it is being treated as just a stomach upset or as something that will go away. It may be caused by many other things/diseases, etc. Please make sure your dog is drinking a lot of water to try and get those bowels moving--Very Important!!!
And please do keep us informed. There is a vet student on this forum who may be able to give you some good advice when he sees your post---so keep checking back in here--The weekend is a bad time for a lot of members not coming in forum right away. Bad for calling the vet on the weekend too--but I think you need to see about that constipation before Monday---I would be checking on that right now!! You could be having more very bad problems if that dog doesn't poop!!
Just checked out your previous posts to check for some 'clues'--I see the one pic--your dog has a rawhide in his mouth---These are somewhat dangerous and can cause obstructions--Don't know if they would show up on an x-ray or not? (Just a thought)
