Default What is wrong with Chloe?

My dog has been acting off for a few weeks. Not her usual playful happy self I mean. Well today she has become 10 times worse all of a sudden. She will not walk around, she lays on the floor and shakes. She hasn't eaten anything (still drinking) and she won't let me touch her rear end. I am nervous that she may have an anal gland infection but she hasn't been scooting and there is no discharge. I expressed the glands last week and what came out was white, milky and chunky. I don't know what to do. All the vets are closed and I have to wait til monday to make an appointment. I don't know if I should treat this as an emergency and bring her to an ER or wait til monday because she is still drinking and pooing and peeing. HELP ME!!!!

I know you must be really stressed out and worried---I would be too! But you are the only one that can decide what to do! There could be a lot of things causing what you describe---diseases, nervous system problems--brain diseases and problems, lyme's, spinal chord--vertabrae. If your dog is not shaking from being scared (and evidently not) or from any disease or health problem--She could be shaking also because of pain--Which is something I would not want to wait on either!!! What bothers me is that you say she has been acting off for a few weeks--And now it has gotten a lot worse----Sounds like an emergency to me. And your dog does appear to be in pain! Is she panting too? What kind of dog is she and how old?

As far as the anal glands--I just read (Have a home vet book)that normal secretions are liquid and brown. If the discharge is yellow, bloody or pus-like, the sac is infected and you should seek veterinary attention. Don't know what white, milky and chunky would mean. But I think there is more than that to worry about!

I am going to put a link here on symptoms of diseases I just found--Don't know how much help---a lot of reading there. I hope your dog will be okay but think you need to get to a vet and prob. the sooner --the better!

I brought her to the vet last night and they did some blood work. Her white count is very high and they confirmed an anal gland infection. She is on antibiotics and they drained them out.

Thanks for the info. She was acting off in that instead of being her crazy hyper self she has been just so so, still playing but not as hard as she normally does. She was eating, drinking, pooing, peeing, playing, walking and her TPR was normal until saturday when she went 100% not ok.

I was looking around for info from any source before bringing her in because when I called my vet they had just gotten two dogs that were hit by cars from the same owner and they told me to wait until about 10 pm to bring her in because they were very busy with the other two patients.

Thanks for the help, I was hoping that it would have come sooner but I appreciate it all the same
