Hi, I just rescued a mixed breed puppy the day after Christmas from a local pound. They told me that he is 3 months old (best guess). They gave me paper work for showing his 1st series of shots, it did include bordatella. He developed a cough 2 days after we brought him home and it seems to be getting worse. Could he still have kennel cough after the vaccine for it? Can he pass it to my 3 year old dog that has also had his shots? How long do you need to wait between series of shots? I have had dogs for a very long time but never had one get sick so I'm not sure what to do.

Vaccines take time to "kick in." Coughs and upper respiratory infections are common in shelter animals. The only thing I can suggest is a trip to the vet a.s.a.p.
