Thank you very much for this article! I feed a raw diet to my dog, but also add a small amount of veggies too. Like the article suggested, dog's teeth are designed in a way where they cannot break down and digest vegetable matter. I always puree the veggies, which in my opinion the only way a dog can use any of those nutrients. There is a debate on weather or not dogs need veggies. I personally do not think so, but I do puree some to make certain. It won't do the dogs any harm if anything. Will it benefit the dog? Probably not (in my opinion) but it doesn't hurt to add some pureed to be sure. Better safe than sorry. When wolves in the wild eats large prey like deer, they generally do not eat the stomach contents, however they do in fact eat the stomach contents of small prey like a rat or rabbit, therefore I like to puree a bit with every meal. Remember, you must puree the veggies because the veggies are already at least partially digested in the rat or rabbit's stomach. Dog's lack the teeth to do so themselves.
In my opinion, carnivores are not necessarily animals that DO NOT eat veggies whatsoever. They may ingest a small amount, but in proportion to the majority of their diet it's minimal and often pretty insignificant.

Thank you very much for this information! Very interesting! Looks like you found a golden website here, eh?
I agree that dogs don't neccessarily need veggies, but they are useful in homecooked diet or some raw diets because these diet may not be EXACTLY as they are in the wild. Veggies contain vitamins that may be lost without the presense on bone in homecooked diets. Very informative. Even though I believe that the raw diet I prepare for Lucky is balanced, I still add some pureed veggies and fruits to fill any gaps that "could" be present. I don't feed Lucky fur or eye balls. Maybe some nutrients are missing that can be obtained in pureed veggies/fruits also, right?
Again, thanks for the article. Very interesting!
