Hey guys. Just wondering what you all think about feeding tripe. I have heard from many that it is great for dogs and has been known to cure many problems. Dog breeders in Europe used to feed this stuff to their dogs as their own secret recipe to cure all sorts of illnesses/abnormalities. I know you should only feed Tripe that is unbleached. This is often referred to as Green Tripe. My questions for you all are...
Do you feed Tripe?
Do you think Tripe is as wonderful as some make it out to be?
Would wolves in the wild consume Tripe/the stomach lining of their prey? ( I have heard contradicting evidence as far as this goes)
I haven't fed any Tripe to my dog yet, but I just bought her some canned Green Tripe (unbleached) from the Pet Store. What is the major difference between fresh Green Tripe and canned if they both claim to be unbleached? I thought Tripe was often bleached for resale to keep fresh/preserved. How can canned Green Tripe claiming to be unbleached able to stay "fresh" on the pet store's shelves for so long? There are other ingredients. It's NOT 100% pure Green Tripe. The ingredient list is as follows;
New Zealand Lamb Tripe, Garlic, Vegetable Gum, Menhaden Fish Oil, Glucosamine, Chondroitin.
Vegetable Gum is a thickening agent and can include Xanthin Gum which is bad for dogs, among others. I don't like the way they unspecified the third ingredient with the general term "Vegetable Gum". I also found a certain type of Vegetable Gum can be Bleached Starch. Would this technically make the Tripe Bleached??? I may not feed this product again because of this.
Here is the products website;

Where can you but fresh, raw Green Tripe which is UNBLEACHED? Anyway to order online? I would love to feed raw, fresh Green Tripe instead of relying on canned Green Tripe which is very questionable with me as of now. I just don't see how Tripe can be unbleached and fresh if it comes in a can. Sounds impossible to me. There must be some loopholes in the system.
Feel free to discuss anything you'd like about feeding Tripe and also feel free to answer my questions/discuss them as you wish.
Thanks!
