I just saw that advertised on tv a few days ago--didn't catch it all but what I did see sounded good---Which is saying a lot for me as I don't believe in commercial dog food to start with. But I might consider it for my next pup--at least as part of the raw feeding/cooking I do. If my next dog might outlive me---There is nobody that would feed the way I do now and this might be the answer. I also looked it up on the net but my computer 'doesn't allow me' to see the main body of the ad.----You know that little square with the red x in it you get (at least mine is like that) on some sites.

And it was the slice and serve product that was shown on tv---which is the main product I'm interested in too. Darn! that I missed most of, Lol, I think my mind automatically tries to ignore when an ad comes on--But wish I could have seen this one--Hope it comes on again. Will have to check my groc. store next time although they prob. won't carry it there! Can anybody else tell me how good this new Slice and Serve food is? What is in it , etc.

Thanks for reminding me of this OrangeDog !

Sounds like a decent food to me, but nothing all that special. Their slice and serve formula is probably a better alternative than kibble though because it is fresher and a lot less processed. Also because of refrigeration, it is much more prone to natural preservation.

I like how the first three ingredients are meats. Nice to see liver (organ meat) up there as well. As you all know I'm not a huge fan of grains, however this food really doesn't have that many grains and the grains are at the end of the list which is short and sweet which is also an advantage. It has very litter fillers and obviously contains no wheat, corn, or soy like most "all natural" pet foods. Many people who firmly believe that dog's are carnivores will argue that this food doesn't have nearly enough protein. It's somewhere aroung 10% or so I believe. the reason why the protein level is so low is merely because most of this meal is made up of moisture, which is a good thing. Moisture is a very important component of any dog's diet. In the wild, a wolf (carnivore) eats raw meat and bones which believe it or not is about 75% moisture. Dehydrated protein sources are pretty unnatural if you ask me. I do recommend high protein kibbles though because of the lack of fillers and grain. Just make sure your dog has access to plenty of water (maybe even mix a bit in with the kibble) because high protein diets even with quality protein could be harder on the kidneys if there isn't enough moisture involved which helps the kidneys flush out your bodies toxins. This food also has a lot of added vitamins and minerals though which I don't think should be neccessary because of the supposed fresh, quality ingredients throughout.

Overall this is a good food if you aren't able to do a home cooked or raw diet. I believe it's bette/more natural than kibble because of its freshness, moisture, and ability so self preserve via refrigeration.

But I suppose not having the rice ingredients would make it more expensive then it prob. already is!

Vitamins:
Choline chloride, vitamin E supplement, niacin, biotin, riboflavin supplement, manganous oxide, thiamine mononitrate, vitamin B12 supplement, vitamin D3 supplement, pyridoxine hydrochloride, folic acid.Nice, esp. the B vitamins and the D (and great that it is the D3 and not just plain D! And the Vitamin E too but would have expected that as it is a preservative too.

Minerals:
Calcium carbonate, zinc proteinate, iron proteinate, ferrous sulfate, zinc oxide, copper proteinate, copper sulfate, niacin, manganese proteinate, manganous oxide, thiamine mononitrate, calcium iodate, sodium selenite.Like the calcium but wondering why no magnesium as this is needed in a ratio to calcium (and the Vitamin D3) to get the good out of them. I know magnesium is in meat but??

Chicken, Turkey & Veggie
Ingredients:
Chicken, turkey, eggs, poultry liver, chicken broth, carrots, brown rice, peas, rice bran, carrageenan, salt, natural flavors. Wonder how much salt is in this blend (also all their blends)--Can't figure out why they added salt to this blend esp. since the chicken broth prob. already has too much salt? Prob. to make it tastier but too much salt is not good for dogs and in some conditions (too many conditions) like my 2 dogs with heart disease should be on low or no salt.

Vitamins:
Choline chloride, vitamin E supplement, niacin, biotin, riboflavin supplement, manganous oxide, thiamine mononitrate, vitamin B12 supplement, vitamin D3 supplement, pyridoxine hydrochloride, folic acid.

Minerals:
Calcium carbonate, zinc proteinate, iron proteinate, ferrous sulfate, zinc oxide, copper proteinate, copper sulfate, niacin, manganese proteinate, manganous oxide, thiamine mononitrate, calcium iodate, sodium selenite.

Beef & Veggies
Ingredients:
Beef, chicken, beef liver, eggs, beef broth, carrots, brown rice, peas, rice bran, soy flour,Soy to me is kind of iffy. carrageenan, salt,How much salt? natural flavors.

Vitamins:
Choline chloride, vitamin E supplement, niacin, biotin, riboflavin supplement, manganous oxide, thiamine mononitrate, vitamin B12 supplement, vitamin D3 supplement, pyridoxine hydrochloride, folic acid.

Calcium carbonate, zinc proteinate, iron proteinate, ferrous sulfate, zinc oxide, copper proteinate, copper sulfate, niacin, manganese proteinate, manganous oxide, thiamine mononitrate, calcium iodate, sodium selenite
From the background of the makers of this dog food and what they had to say (I did get into some areas of this site) about why they decided to do this--It sounds good-They should know what they are doing too with the background they all have. Just so it is not on the lines of 'Truth in Advertising' and can you trust them for what they say? I hope so but there are a few things I noticed . Didn't think it was advisable to have 2 different kinds of meat in one meal--The liver is okay as it is of the same kind of meat but putting beef and chicken together!? Even turkey and chicken together are to me not the best idea. I like the egg but it really would be a lot better if at least the yolk was raw--but I know-not doable--could cause contamination in this kind of product. And why didn't they add the amino acid-Taurine since they are finding out that some doga are lacking in this. Beef is the main source of this taurine (and this has to be a cut that has the blood still in the tissues (Hamburger is not a good source as the blood is not in the tissue anymore--Prob. not explaining this very well)--Chicken and turkey not a good source! Some dog food companies are now adding taurine to their dog food because of the recent findings on this important amino acid. If I find a telephone # --I just may call them and ask them about this and the salt and the mixing of 2 dif. kinds of meat in one blend.

Lol, sorry to tear this apart but I am esp. into ingredients because I raw feed and need to know what to do for nutrition. Just wish they had found out about the taurine a long time ago and my dogs would have been supplemented with it. They are now but really to late-at least for Corky.

You have goldens ---They are the main breed along with the cockers that can have this low taurine---I would suggest you research a little on this.
Thanks again for the info!
