New puppy came with a tick bite and now it looks all bruised
I went with my cousin to pick up her new dog at the shelter. Dog is otherwise VERY healthy and happy (5 months old) but he had a small wound on the inside of his thigh and the shelter said it was a tick that they had pulled off and they had the vet look at it and all seems fine.
Its not the tick wound I was worried about because it just looked like any other little wound from pulling off a tick. But then I saw the dog yesterday (3 days after picking him up) and I had a little look
The bite has now gone down in the redness, but there was a large (about 4" in diameter) around the bite. It took up almost his entire inner thigh.
Again, it wasnt swollen or red, but it was just a dark blotch like a buise.
I told her to keep a close eye on it for the next three days or so and if ANYTHING changes call the vet.. but i have never seen this before. EVER.

Wondering what kind of vet this is--bad?! It took up almost his entire inner thigh.

Wait a second... What exactly was around the around the bite? A bit more detail would help. Thanks.

Hey, Todd, you must be reading too fast!!
Quote: The bite has now gone down in the redness, but there was a large (about 4" in diameter) around the bite. (Corky/Max here->This is a sign of Lyme Disease!!!
Wondering what kind of vet this is--bad?! It took up almost his entire inner thigh. End of Corky/Max)
Again, it wasnt swollen or red, but it was just a dark blotch like a buise.
Although in reading this again myself-- --1st it was noted as red and then it wasn't but just a dark (RED!?) blotch like a bruise. Would the original poster here please verify one way or the other!!

OK thanks. Guess a large brusing. It says there was a large (about 4 inch in diameter) around the bite. A large what? I don't think it said. That's why I was confused. A brusing right?
