That sounds more positive. If he's aware of his surroundings - heat and light and such - that is a lot more than yestereday. I do hope he will pull through.

Update
I talked with the vet again this evening, and he things that perhaps he was to optimistic in saying he saw improvement in Trexon his morning. He is back to the same unresponsive state his was in yesterday when I saw him.
I was told to give him another 24 hours to be sure, but that if there was not some obvious improvment in that time then there probably would be nothing more to be done.

Another Update
Hi everyone. Today has been sort of crazy..and I wanted to keep you guys in the loop. After speaking with the Dr. yesterday I was almost sure that I would be putting Trexon down today. After getting to work and talking with a friend about it another co-worker overhead us. She suggested that I call her vet and get a second opinion. So I did.
This second vet, after calling me back a couple of times and consulting with a neurologist friend in south Florida came back with this. Do not put Trexon to sleep! At this point he has not been given enough time to fully recover. Give him until at least Tuesday (1 full week) before you make any decision there. Also that the vet Trexon is with is one of the most respected and best doctors in our area. Do not move him, or try to take him to a different office. It would do more harm than good most likely.
Soon after hearing this I got an update on Trexon. He is barking today, which he has not done at all since all this started. He is holding his head up more, and has greater motor control. I of course was skeptical after hearing "he's better" yesterday only to end up being let down. But the vet says there still is hope and this is a definite improvement that would make him certainly say give it more time.
So, I am back to waiting and hoping. Thanks again to all of you. it’s really great to have a place to come vent.

Update
Hi everyone! I wanted to stop in and give an update on Trexon.
Saturday he started eating and drinking on his own. Today I was told that neurologically he is doing very well. Eating, drinking, standing, walking everything. However...they are not sure about his vision.
When testing his eyes his reflexes are good. this puplis react to light the way they should. But when they do motion tests he is not responding, and when walking he bumps into chairs and walls and such. Right now we dont know how the connection from the retina to his brain is.
They are not sure if this will fix itself like everything else has given a little more time, or if he is going to have permanent vision loss.
At this point if he is blind and can still get around I am okay with that! I am just so happy that he is doing better. Has anyone had a blind dog before? I have known older dogs that went blind from age, but never a puppy. What are the chances that he could function properly without vision?

Glad to hear things are much better. My daughter had a dog go blind--diabetes complication. Everything went okay as soon as there was enough time for everyone to get use to it --including the dog.
Here is a link to a thread in this forum on this question: Blind Dog Advice?

My inlaws had a spaniel that went blind at a comparatively young age and she coped just fine. She did everything their other dog did - off lead walks etc. There was the odd problem when things were moved in the house - the Christmas tree was a problem one year I remember! But she lived a long and happy life.

I have worked with blind rescues and had a few of mine go blind over the years. It is important to remember that their senses are far greater than ours and the other senses will pick up when one fails. So long as you are not one who keeps moving the furniture around, they will learn to navigate to water bowls, food bowls etc. far better than one realizes. Based though on the issues this little one has gone through recently, this may in fact be a temporary side effect and very likely will regain his sight or at least partial site. Fingers crossed.

As other have said, dog's have much better senses than we do when it comes to smell so a blind dog would rely on that sense which is stronger than it's vision and can do well. As Yogi suggested don't move furniture. They almost have the layout imprinted in their minds after a while. Careful around steps where the dog may want to go up and over a ledge or down the stars. So the dog knows this is coming up place a small matt down for the dog to feel so it knows it's approadching something where it needs to step up or get ready to go down.
So glad to hear he will be alright!

Update
Hi Cheryl...Thanks so much for thinking about Trexon! I think I opened another thread about him..but I will give you an update here.
After Texon's last visit to his vet I was told that he was deaf, blind, and had no sense of smell. I really struggled with what to do, but did not believe that he had totally lost his hearing or smell. I took him home and have been working with him.
Since that last visit Trexon is navigating the house very well. He finds his own food and water bowls...eats and drinks on his own and for the most part seems happy. I know that he can hear us when we speak to him which is a huge improvement. He even has learned when by bedroom is and if I don’t take him to bed with me he will whine and scratch at my door until I let him in.
When I take him outside he will run around the yard..not a flat out run...but still a run. Over all I think he is doing pretty well. He still cannot see...or at least if he can it’s not obvious to us, but that’s ok.
He has improved 100% from what he was, and I have hopes that he will continue to get better. The only issue I have right now...and it is a small one...is his control over when and here he uses the bathroom. He was never a dog to mess in his sleeping places. But now he seems to either not care...or not be able to stop himself. He will wake up take a step or two and go right where he is...no matter where that happens to be. He will go outside if he is outside when the need strikes...but I seem to never be able to tell when that is. But like I said, that is pretty minor all things considered.
Thanks so much for your thoughts and prayers!

Wren,
Overjoyed to hear this!! Guess I missed your new posting-sorry.
I'm sure if the vet prescribes any meds for the leakage problem, you will check it out first. Never give ProIn
